In delivery systems, such as drainage applications or infusion therapy, micropumps can be an attractive alternative to standard pumps due to their size, weight and low energy demand. Infusion therapies, such as the continuous dosing of nutrient solution in parenteral diets, have a strict requirements on the flow accuracy. The mp6 micropump, with its double actuator configuration, allows the integration of an intrinsic flow control mechanism. Implementing this feature can improve the flow accuracy under varying conditions compared to the standard pump mp6, with almost no unit cost increase. The controlled loop function can maintain constant flow under varying conditions, such as pressure, viscosity and temperature changes. In combination with an anti-free flow element small, portable infusion systems can be realized.
